FC Elite finish as Finalists in the SAC Columbus Day Tournament

The Herndon Boys U14 FC Elite added to their hardware collection by making it to the finals at the SAC Columbus Day weekend tournament played in Columbia, MD. Playing in the Elite Division, this is now back to back tournaments that the boys made it the finals by going undefeated in the qualifying matches.

Coach Dan and the boys started the tournament by narrowly defeating division rival Arundel Juventus 1-0. They continued their shutout streak by beating Annandale United 3-0. On the second day of the tournament in the semifinal, the boys came back from a 0-1 early deficit to tie the game 1-1 right before the half. The boys went on the offensive attack in the second half and scored two more goals, defeating the DC Stoddard Metro Stars 3-1. FC Elite’s strong defense play in the second half prevented the Metro Stars from generating much of an offensive attack.

The final was a tightly contested battle, but the boys fell 0-1 to the Penn Fusion Predators. Play was even through much of the match with both teams generating offensive attacks and showing good possession. The Predators were finally able to score an early second half goal from close range off a corner kick scramble. Well played match by both teams.
