The Herndon Firecats, despite being a current U18 team, had a number of seniors graduate in the Spring of 2012. 4 of those players signed scholarships to play at Division 1 schools and completed their freshman season this Fall. Those players were Danielle Fitzgerald, Jamie Kator, Madison Smith, and Rachel Ivey.
Danielle is at the University of Kentucky which plays in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Wildcats finished the year 14-7-1, losing to #3 seed UCLA in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. Danielle saw action in 6 games throughout the season. Jamie Kator is also playing in the SEC for Vanderbilt University. She saw action in all 20 matches for the Commodores and notched 1 assist in the process.
Madison Smith chose to play for the University of Massachusetts and had an exceptional year, starting all 20 games on the back line for the Minutewomen. Rachel Ivey stayed the closest to home, playing for James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She appeared in 11 games, and she also set up 1 goal during the Fall.
Congratulations to these 4 Total Futbol alums on their excellent beginnings to their collegiate careers!
