McLean U16 Players Named to Region I Roster for ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional, Nov. 18-23, 2012 in Boca Raton, FL

FRISCO, TX (October 12, 2102) - Goalkeeper Katelyn Jensen and Midfielder Madeline McCracken have been named to the 18-player Region I roster of 1997 girls for the annual US Youth Soccer (USYS) Olympic Development Program Girls Thanksgiving Interregional, set to take place Nov. 18-23 at Spanish River Athletic Park in Boca Raton, FL. Jensen and McCracken both play for McLean’s U16 ECNL team.

Teams comprised of nearly 300 players from the 2013-2017 graduation classes will participate in the six-day Boca Raton event. The players, selected from USYS State Association and regional evaluations, will train and compete in front of national staff and collegiate coaches. Teams at the event compete on behalf of one of the four USYS regions: Region I (East), Region II (Midwest), Region III (South) and Region IV (West).

From its inception in July of 2011 through September 2012, the McLean U16 ECNL team has achieved a 41% shutout rate in combined ECNL and tournament competition with Jensen in goal – she also serves as Co-Captain of the squad. Attacking midfielder McCracken contributed to the team’s overall +68 goal differential over the same period. Both Jensen and McCracken are Top 150 nationally ranked 2015 players on the Top Drawer Soccer website, along with their U16 teammate, Amber Stearns.

“KJ (Katelyn) and Madeline are a pleasure to coach as they are both extremely driven, hardworking players”, said U16 ECNL Head Coach Nadir Moumen. “They will be great assets to the Region 1 team both on and off the field”.
