This August’s edition of the Dulles National Tournament saw many of the high-school aged teams placed together in the U19 Women’s Premier bracket. Total Futbol was well represented in the bracket as our U18 and U17 teams, Herndon Comets White and Herndon Chaos, respectively, were competing on opposite sides of the bracket.
The weekend couldn’t have started much better for Comets White. Facing NVSC Majestics Blue, Lacy scored from distance 15 seconds into the game to get the team up 1-0. An insurance goal was added later and the Comets won 2-0. A 3-0 win over the Herndon Wanderers in the second game assured the Comets as one of the first seeds for Sunday’s semifinals.
Finding themselves in a bracket with two U18 teams, the U17 Chaos faced stiff competition on the opening day of the tournament. The team came away with a fantastic pair of results, winning 2-1 over Herndon Curve and tying NVSC Majestics 1-1. The undefeated opening day saw them grab the other first seed in the semifinals, postponing a possible Total Futbol vs. Total Futbol game until the finals.
Sunday morning’s semifinals saw each of our teams take care of business. The Chaos dispatched another U18 team, NVSC Majestics Blue, 2-1, and the Comets shut out the Curve to win 1-0 and complete the Comets vs. Chaos Championship bout. The teams couldn’t be more familiar with each other as they spent the entire preseason training together, and the result finished with the Comets 1-0 over the Chaos in a very entertaining and competitive game.
