August Preseason Tournaments Provide Taste of Sweet Success

Reston 06 Green, a U9 team, pose with Total Futbol Head Coach Matt Lee after finishing as Finalists in the U9 Challenge Division of the Dulles National Soccer Tournament on Sunday, August 30. Over four games, the team posted a 2-2-0 record with 17 goals scored and 12 goals against. The team will compete in the NCSL's U9 C Division this fall.
 

Vienna Youth Soccer's Thunder Gold, a U17 team, were Champions in the prestigious August Cup Girls U17 Showcase Bracket over the Aug. 29-30 weekend. The team dominated their competition, going undefeated (2-0-1) across three games, scoring a total of ten goals and allowing just one. Coached by Total Futbol Director Nadir Moumen, team will compete in WAGS League's U18 Division 1 this fall.
 
 
 
Battling stifling heat and tough competition, the Reston Blue 05 Girls (U10 team) persevered to capture first place in the U10 Premier Division at the Dulles National Soccer Tournament in Leesburg, VA. Coached by Total Futbol's Fadia Hawa (TF Assistant Coach Jimmy Brewer also pictured above), the girls displayed a direct passing attack that, in combination with their speedy one-on-one skills and accurate shooting, resulted in 17 goals over four matches. Meanwhile, the Blue's stingy defense held their opponents to five goals. The girls rolled over teams from FCV South County, Herndon and ODFC to a perfect 4-0-0 record. Next up for the team is the DMV Premier Cup Labor Day Tournament held in Woodbridge, VA - their final tune-up before competing in WAGS Division K this fall. Congratulations Reston Blue 05!  
 

Herndon Hurricanes White, a U13 team coached by Total Futbol Assistant Director Todd Hamlin, captured the U13 Champion Division title at the Dulles National Soccer Tournament. The team had a very exciting game in the Final - after the overtime ended in a 1-1 draw, the team pulled out a victory on penalty kicks. Hurricances White will compete in WAGS Division 2 this fall. The Herndon Hooligans, a U14 team coached by Total Futbol's Matt Lee and Nadir Moumen, captured the U14 Premier Division at the Dulles National Soccer Tournament over the weekend. The Hooligans went 3-1-0 with six goals for and three goals against. The Final was a well-played 2-0 blanking of BAC Blitz and the Hooligans came away from the clash with the hardware!  
 
 
The Herndon Hurricanes Black, a U13 team coached by Total Futbol Assistant Director Todd Hamlin, were Finalists in the U13 Premier Division at the Dulles National Soccer Tournament last weekend. The Hurricanes Black went 2-2-0 at the tourney, losing twice to Northern Steel Storm, a strong Pennsylvania side that won the bracket. The girls will compete in the prestigious Region I Champions League this fall.
