VA State Cup "Final Four" Streak Hits the Decade Mark
October 31, 2015

In every year of the last decade, at least one team (and often more than one) coached by Total Futbol has advanced to the "Final Four" of the highly competitive Virginia State Cup. 2015 was no exception. Two teams carried on TF's proud tradition: Herndon United '99 finished as Semi-Finalists in the U16 age group and Vienna Thunder Black 98 finished as Semi-Finalists in the U17 age group. Both teams lost (to the eventual State Cup champions in their respective brackets) in narrow, one-goal heartbreakers on Halloween day.

Herndon United 99 won all four of its games on its way to the U16 Semi-Final match, scoring ten goals while keeping a clean sheet on defense. However, they exited the competition after losing 0-1 to Vienna Phoenix 99. Meanwhile, Vienna Thunder Black 98 also stormed through the competition on its way to the U17 Final Four, winning three games, tying one, racking up ten goals and conceding just three. The team lost by 0-1 to Loudoun 98G Red in the Semi-Final.

Since 2006, Total Futbol has produced four VA State Cup Champions, three Finalists and eight Semi-Finalists.
