Eight Teams Finish Near the Top of Their Leagues

Total Futbol coaches or trains a total of 29 teams that compete in five different leagues, including WAGS, NCSL, ECNL, Region 1 Premier League, and US Club Soccer’s Virginia National Premier League. Eight teams in the program were able to win first, second or third place in highly competitive brackets during the Fall 2015 season (nine of the teams play in younger age groups that do not report results).
Those eight successful squads collectively played 66 league games and posted a record of 50-7-9, notching 239 goals (3.6 average per game) and allowing just 58 (0.88 average per game).
MSC Academy 03 White (coached by TF’s Ellis Pierre) scored 47 goals and allowed just seven on their relentless march through the WAGS U12 Division O, posting a final record of 8-0-0. The girls scored an eye-popping 47 goals and conceded a miserly seven to opponents.

Reston 02 Cyclones (coached by TF’s Matt Lee) scored 54 goals and allowed just three as they tore their way through the NCSL’s U13 Division 4, posting a final record of 8-1-0. Their sole loss, to eventual Division Champion ASA Juventus FC Elite 02, came down to one goal.

Herndon Crossfire (coached by TF’s Eric Dougnaglo) ended up in the number two spot of WAGS’s U14 Division 3 for the Fall 2015 season. The team went 6-1-1, scoring 18 goals and allowing 14. The only loss for the season was to CSA Wolves 01G Select, which went on to claim the title.

Herndon FC Elite (coached by TF’s Dan Merold) were Finalists of the NCSL’s U15 Division 2, all the more impressive as this was the team’s first season in the division after winning promotion from D3 last Spring. FC Elite went 7-2-0 while scoring 19 goals and conceding nine in as many games.

Herndon United 99 (coached by TF Assistant Director Todd Hamlin) were Champions of the WAGS U17 Division 1, recording an undefeated run of 5-0-3 in the competitive bracket. United scored 20 goals in the eight games and let in six.

Reston 98 City Blue (co-coached by TF’s Randall Bolanos and Dan Merold) finished in second place in the NCSL’s U17 Division 4 with a record of 6-2-1, 30 goals for and ten goals against. The team actually beat the eventual division champions, Herndon Rovers South twice (once on Sept. 20, 4-2, and once on Oct. 25, 2-1) during their fall slate of games.

Vienna Thunder Black 98 played in the highly competitive Virginia National Premier League in Fall 2015, finishing third among 12 teams.
Vienna Thunder Black 98 (coached by TF Director Nadir Moumen) played in US Club Soccer’s Virginia National Premier League (NPL). The U17 division was comprised of 12 teams and Thunder Black finished in 3rd place with a 5-1-1 record, scoring 31 goals while allowing just four.

Vienna Thunder Gold 98 (coached by TF Director Nadir Moumen) were Finalists in the WAGS U18 Division 1 bracket (playing up one year), even though they were undefeated. The squad posted a 5-0-3 season, scoring 20 goals and letting in just five. They were just 0.25 points per game off the Champion spot, which went to Herndon’s Pegasus. Gold tied Pegasus 0-0 in their head-to-head match.
