For the second year in a row, Claire Constant was named to the "Best XI" squad at the annual ECNL National Training Camp, which took place in Portland, Oregon, from July 28 - August 1. 90 top players from around the country were invited to train and compete at the camp in recognition of their outstanding play during the ECNL's regular season.
Among the perks of success was an all-expenses paid trip to New York City. On August 3, during halftime of the International Champions Cup match between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, the ECNL Best XI were introduced in front of a sold out crowd at MetLife Stadium. In addition, the young players attended the training sessions of both teams the day before the big game, with direct access to the professional players for autographs and group photos. Constant, who played for McLean Youth Soccer's U16 ECNL team (coached by Total Futbol Director Nadir Moumen) during the 2015-16 season, has committed to continue her playing career in college at the University of Virginia. In 2016-17, as part of the age reorganization of youth soccer across the country, Constant will play for McLean's rising U18 ECNL team.
"It was a great experience both to play with a talented pool of soccer players in Portland and then to be selected to travel to New York City with the top 11," said Constant. "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and meeting the players from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid was unbelievable!"
